Finally got to see Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull last night. So if you haven't seen it or don't care, please ignore this.

Starts of with some random people. And a prarie dog. Actually, I though it was a nice beginning and set a relaxed sort of pace for the movie. That was nice. And it shows how covert things are right under out nose. I was quite interested to see where the whole crystal skull thing would go. But I'll get there.

So, this time 'round we're dealing with Russians instead of Nazis. And Cate Blanchet was fairly creepy. And they alluded to the Mcarthy trials, though they wern't mentioned by name. And apparently, Indy's been going off infiltrating other countries for the government... And he survives a nuclear blast by hiding in a fridge. ...Alright. It said it was lead lined...

Anyway, enough plot. Suffice it to say that Lucas just had to bring in aliens. I don't think that was necesary. Interesting yes. On the whole, the movies by itself was alright. It had its moments that were funny and nodded both to the previous movies and Star Wars (they also had to throw in "I have a bad feeling about this..."). And the bit with the snake.
"Stop calling it that!"
"Well, whatddya want me to call it?"
"Call it a rope!"

But... I don't think it reached the caliber of the others. My mother and grandma agree that there wasn't enough Speilburg, and as a result it went up, and hit a plateau. After that it didn't really go up and down as a plot should. It had no bumps. And very little character development. Mutt (or Henry Jones III) could have been a nice character, but they didn't really get into it. He was just sorta... there. And I felt they could have done Marion a little better, and slightly more like the old Marion. They did bring in the Ark though, still in a box in area 51, apparently. I liked all the little things they put in. They even mentioned something from hte Young Indy series. Except, they didn't even use the name Indy a lot.

In the end, it left me wanting. I felt like there was something missing. Or that bits felt rushed, and as a result it wasn't quite as good as the others and as it could be. Decent movie... But there was potential there that wasn't reached. Someone said they might do something with Mutt (or Henry Jones III). I can see it.

Well, that it, I suppose.
